The author of The Cheatin' Vegan in the kitchen

The story behind the book

Hi, I'm the Cheatin' Vegan.

I used to be the person who'd go full vegan for three weeks, feel amazing, then eat an entire cheese board at a dinner party and spend the next week convinced I'd ruined everything. Sound familiar?

After years of that cycle — restriction, guilt, restriction, guilt — I finally asked myself: what if I just... stopped? Stopped treating food like a moral test. Stopped labeling myself. Stopped pretending that one slice of birthday cake undid everything.

What I found on the other side was something I never expected: I actually ate more plants. Because when I stopped making veganism an all-or-nothing identity, I stopped failing at it.

The mission

The Cheatin' Vegan exists to give you permission. Permission to eat mostly plants, to feel genuinely great, and to also enjoy a real meal with real people without a side of shame. Health isn't a destination you reach by being perfect — it's a practice you build by being consistent. And consistent is a lot easier when you're not white-knuckling it.

The 80/20 philosophy

Eat plants most of the time

Not because you have to. Because they make you feel incredible, and once you know how to cook them well, you'll actually want to.

Cheat without guilt

The 20% isn't failure — it's sustainability. A life that includes birthday cake, grandma's lasagna, and a good burger is a life you can actually live.

Progress over perfection

One great week followed by one imperfect week is still a great month. Zoom out. You're doing better than you think.
